Custody dispute results in deputy's arrest.

MOULTON, AL – A child custody dispute has resulted in the arrest of a police officer for domestic violence.

Deputy Blake Landon Burns, who is 33 and lives in Cherokee, turned himself in after a magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest.

Burns is accused of striking Brandi Lee Nettles, who is 33 and lives in Courtland, in the hip and abdomen with his fists on June 23, 2017.

Burns and Nettles are involved in a heated custody battle and in March of 2018 Nettles sought not one but two protection from abuse orders against Blake in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

Nine months after the alleged incident, Nettles signed the warrant for Burns' arrest on April 2, 2018.

Burns was released on a $1,000 bond.

Lawrence County District Judge Angela Terry has sent Burns' arraignment for May 3 at 8:30 a.m.
