Widow of Jihadist killer found not guilty of helping him plan Orlando attack on gays.

ORLANDO, FL - The widow of the gunman who killed 49 people at a gay Orlando nightclub has been acquitted on charges of lying to the FBI and helping her husband in the 2016 attack.

Noor Salman was found not guilty of charges of obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization.

Prosecutors alleged her husband, Omar Mateen was a terrorist because of his fatal attack on the club, which was motivated by his desire to wage “jihad.”

Prosecutors argued Salman knew about Mateen's plan, knew that he had guns, knew that he was buying ammunition for the guns, knew that he had a habit of watching violent Muslim extremist videos, knew of his intention to commit a violent attack, and, despite knowing all of this, she did nothing to stop him from carrying out his attack.

Prosecutors said Salman went so far as helping her husband by driving around Orlando, looking at potential targets,  including Disney World.

Defense attorney Charles Swift argued there was no way Salman knew that Mateen would attack the Pulse nightclub because even he didn't know he would attack it until moments before the shooting.

"It's a horrible, random, senseless killing by a monster," Swift said during closing arguments. "But it wasn't preplanned. The importance to this case is that if he didn't know, she couldn't know."

Defense attorneys further described Mateen as abusive, controlling, and said he cheated on Salman and often kept his life concealed from her. They said Salman was easily manipulated and had a low IQ.
