LUMBERTON, Mississippi — Lumberton Police Chief Shane Flynt has been suspended after a video posted on Facebook by his wife surfaced shows him smoking marijuana.
“I’m the only chief of police in Lumberton that likes to smoke weed,” Flynt says in the video.
It’s not clear when the video was recorded, which even shows the chief’s uniform in the background. He can be heard laughing and using vulgar language at times.
“Who the coolest is? Me, I’m the coolest,” Flynt says.
Lumberton Mayor Quincy Rogers said Flynt will remain on suspension until after the city's board of aldermen meet. The next board meeting is scheduled for March 6.
Flynt later posted on Facebook that he'd made a "huge mistake."
