Lawyers hired to investigate Nashville mayor's use of public cash during affair

March 2, 2018

NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Mayor Megan Barry says she won't resign despite allegations she spent taxpayer-funded trips she took alone with her lover, including one to Greece.

Burch, Porter and Johnson, a Memphis-based law firm,  will spearhead the city's investigation into Barry’s use of taxpayer money during her affair.

The seven-member special committee voted 5-0 Thursday to hire the Memphis lawyers.

Mike Cody, who served as state attorney general in Tennessee from 1984 to 1988, will lead the investigation.
